A rare Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver and mother-of-pearl handled ceremonial trowel, the triangular blade having a hand-engraved stone laying inscription for August 15th 1908, in its original dark blue satin and velvet-lined presentation box. This beautiful antique silver trowel was made by Watson and Gillott of Sheffield in 1908. The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver and mother-of-pearl ceremonial trowel length 20cms (8 inches), and width of trowel blade 5.5 cms (2.25 inches).

On one of the lower fins you can see the hallmark of a Pentagram that is a Spanish quality mark indicating a minimum of 915 Silver purity (Sterling Standard is 925), and in a separate mark the letters CO representing Cordoba. Made by Levi and Salaman of Birmingham in 1903. Please note that the green velvet is discoloured.

Antique Georgian sterling silver bougie-box, having a cylindrical body with bright-cut engraved bands of decoration, a flat invisibly hinged lid, an attached sickle moon-shaped wax trimmer, and a hinged buckle style loop handle. Made by Thomas Phipps and Edward Robinson II of London in 1785. Please note that the hallmark also includes a rare incuse duty mark (George III looking left), which was only in use for 18 months (between 1st December 1784 and 29th May, 1786). The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver bougie-box are diameter 5 cms (2 inches), height 2.5 cms (1 inch), and it weighs approx. 53g (1.7 troy ounces).
