A very handsome Antique Georgian Sterling Silver tea caddy box, having an oval straight-sided body with hand-engraved panels between hand-chased vertical bands of fluting, with hand-engraved laurel-leaf cartouches on either side, a fluted and domed lid with flat invisible hinge and pineapple finial, all sitting on a flat base and with its original lock and key. Made by Henry Chawner of London in 1795. The dimensions of this fine hand-made antique silver tea caddy box are height 16 cms (6.25 inches), length 14 cms (5.5 inches), width 9.5 cms (3.75 inches), and it weighs approx. 333g (10.7 troy ounces). |
