Antique Victorian sterling silver tazza dish and cover, having a round body with half-fluted chasing and an applied gadroon border, held up by a cast gold-gilt model of Zeus with his emblem of an eagle, and sitting on a pedestal foot with hand-engraved floral decoration, together with a lift off lid with a cast model of Veritas and Globe as a finial. Made by Alexander Macrae of London in 1868. The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver tazza dish are height 42 cms (16.5 inches), diameter 28 cms (11 inches), and it weighs approx. 1,954g (63 troy ounces). |
