Antique Georgian sterling silver quart tankard, having a plain round body with tapering sides and hand-chased reeded decoration, a scroll handle with hinged lid and hand-pierced thumb-piece, the lid with hand-engraved barley and hops (for the making of beer) decoration. Made by Soloman Hougham of London in 1799. The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver tankard are height (including thumb-piece) 19 cms (7.5 inches), length 18 cms (7 inches), and it weighs approx. 855g (27.5 troy ounces). |
