A very elegant and large Antique Georgian Sterling Silver sugar basket, having an oval body with tapering sides and hand-engraved neoclassical style decoration above two vacant cartouches on either side, with applied reeded borders, a hinged and reeded swing-handle, and sitting on a pedestal foot with matching decoration. This beautiful antique silver sweet-meat basket was made by Henry Chawner of London in 1795. The dimensions of this fine hand-made antique silver sugar basket are height (inc. handle) 18.5 cms (7.25 inches), length 16.5 cms (6.5 inches), and it weighs approx. 217g (7 troy ounces).
