Antique Georgian sterling silver sugar or sweetmeat basket, having an oval body, with hand-chased and fluted decoration, an applied reeded border, a gold-gilt interior, a reeded swing-handle, and sitting on four ball feet. Made by William Bateman of London in 1815. The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver sugar basket are height 12.5 cms (5 inches), length 16 cms (6.25 inches), width 14 cms (5.5 inches), and it weighs approx. 174g (5.6 troy ounces).
