An Antique Georgian Sterling Silver pair of salt cellars, in a boat-shaped neoclassical style, having plain oval bodies, with gold-gilt interiors, applied reeded borders, and reeded side-handles, all sitting on pedestal feet. Made by John Wakelin and William Taylor of London in 1785 (having the rare Incuse duty mark). The dimensions of these fine hand-made antique silver salt cellars are length 13.5 cms (5.3 inches), width 6.5 cms (2.5 inches), height 8 cms (3.25 inches), and they weigh a total of approx. 214g (6.9 troy ounces). Please note that both salt cellars have engraved crests. |
