Antique Georgian sterling silver epergne centerpiece, having four hand-cut crystal bowls including a large central bowl for flowers or fruit and three smaller bowls for sweets or nuts, with each arm being removable, and all sitting on a very handsome base with hand-chased anthemion leaf and scroll work. Made by the famous silversmith Matthew Boulton of Birmingham in 1817. The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver center-piece are height 38 cms (15 inches), spread across arms 51 cms (20 inches), and it weighs approx. 2,820g (91 troy ounces). |
