An Antique Victorian Sterling Silver and gold-gilt Monstrance, having a cruciform finial over a central Lunar receptacle in an elaborate sun-ray frame with eight applied winged angels, all mounted on a pedestal foot with hand-chased vine-leaf central knop over a hexafoil base. All decorated with 39 old cut foil-backed diamonds (one missing), 15 pearls of good lustre and uneven shape, a blue-enamelled Lunar surround engraved with the Latin Sanctus repeated, and 27 set turquoise stones. Made by John Harman & Co., of Birmingham in 1899. The dimensions of this fine hand-made antique silver and gold-gilt Monstrance are height 68 cms (26.75 inches), width 29 cms (11.5 inches), depth 25.5 cms (10 inches), and it weighs approx. 2,800g (90 troy ounces).
