A very handsome Antique Victorian Sterling Silver altar chalice and paten. The chalice having a round tapering cup and lemon gold-gilt interior, an octagonal panelled stem with a central applied jewel-like baluster, and all sitting on a spreading octagonal panelled base with an applied double bead-edged border. This beautiful silver altar chalice was made made by William Gibson and John Langland of London in 1899. The paten which has a very plain round body was made by Goldsmiths and Silversmiths of London in 1900. The dimensions of this fine hand-made antique silver chalice are height 16.5 cms (6.5 inches), diameter at lip of cup 10 cms (4 inches), spread across base 12.5 cms (5 inches), diameter of paten 15 cms (6 inches), with a total weight of approx. 465g (15 troy ounces).
