A large and handsome Sterling Silver altar chalice having a hand-hammered or planished finish, with a round tapering cup and a gold-gilt interior, an octagonal panelled stem with a central applied jewel-like baluster, and all sitting on a spreading octagonal panelled base with an applied fleur-de-lis border. This beautiful and impressive silver altar chalice was made made by A. R. Mowbray and Co., Ltd., of London in 1948. The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver chalice are height 20 cms (8 inches), diameter at lip of cup 10 cms (4 inches), spread across base 15 cms (6 inches), and it weighs approx. 444g (14.3 troy ounces).
