A very handsome Arts and Crafts style Sterling Silver altar chalice with a hand-hammered or plenished finish, having a plain round tapering bowl, a middle plain round baluster hand-engraved with the Latin Christogram Jesus Hominum Salvator (Jesus Saviour of Men), sitting on a round and panelled pedestal foot with a hand-engraved cross crucifix. Made by the Central School of Arts and Crafts of London in 1948. The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver chalice are height of chalice 15 cms (6 inches), diameter of foot 10 cms (4 inches), and it weighs of approx. 345g (11 troy ounces). |
