A rare Antique Georgian (William IV) Sterling Silver collapsible travelling communion set, consisting of a chalice, paten, and bottle, with a bayonet-fit mechanism. The chalice having a round body with reeded borders, and a gold-gilt interior. The bottle having the same style, but slightly smaller to fit inside the goblet when collapsed, and a pull-off stopper. The paten having a round body with a reeded border, and sitting on a collet foot. All three are engraved with a Christogram, and all sit in their original maroon velvet-lined and leather presentation box. Made by Charles Rawlings & William Summer of London in 1836. The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver travelling communion set are height (when attached together) 11 cms (4.25 inches), diameter of paten 5 cms (2 inches), and with a total weight of approx. 125g (4 troy ounces). |
