A Sterling Silver four-piece travelling communion set consisting of chalice, paten, spoon, and wine bottle. The chalice having a plain round body, a gold-gilt interior, and sitting on a hexagonal pedestal foot. The paten having a hexagonal body with an applied shaped border, and sitting on a collet foot. The wine bottle having a plain round screw-off lid, a cork seal, and the glass body with hand-cut panelled decoration. The anointing spoon having a plain oval bowl and ball finial. Both the chalice and paten are engraved with a Christogram. All sitting in its original purple satin and velvet-lined presentation box. Made by A. R. Mowbray & Co. Ltd., of London in 1930. The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver travelling communion set are height of chalice 8 cms (3.25 inches), diameter of paten 5.5 cms (2.25 inches), length of spoon 10 cms (4 inches), and with a total weight of approx. 125g (4 troy ounces). |
