A handsome Sterling Silver travelling communion set, consisting of a cylindrical body with a pull-off lid and gold-gilt interior for wafers with an applied rope-twist border and hand-chased cruciform decoration, the body with a central bayonet fit opening and revealing inside a glass holder with stopper for the consecrated wine, on top of which sits a hand-hammered chalice with gold-gilt interior. This elegant communion service was made by Frederick Osborne of London in 1928. The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver travelling communion set are height 8.5 cms (3.25 inches), diameter 4 cms (1.5 inches), with a total weight of approx. 109g (3.5 troy ounces).
