Antique Victorian sterling silver three-piece travelling communion set consisting of chalice, paten, and wine bottle. The chalice having a round body with hand-chased fluting, a gold-gilt interior, and sitting on a hexagonal pedestal foot. The paten having a round body with an applied shaped border, and sitting on a collet foot. The wine bottle having a plain round screw-off lid, cork seal, an original glass stopper, and the glass body with hand-cut fluted decoration. Both the chalice and paten are engraved with a Christogram. All sitting in its original blue velvet-line presentation box, that has a pinned plaque with inscription for 1915. Made by Charles Rawlings & William Summers of London in 1848. The dimensions of this fine hand-made silver travelling communion set are height of chalice 9 cms (3.5 inches), diameter of paten 7.5 cms (3 inches), and with a total weight of approx. 100g (3.2 troy ounces). |
