A very handsome Antique Georgian Sterling Silver cheese dish, having a very plain oval body with reeded borders, a cast urn-shaped finial, and a flat hidden hinge, attached to a hollow oval hot-water jacket base with removable oak wood-turned handle and a security chain to hold the lid at an angle to reflect heat from fire onto cheese. Made by John King of London in 1788. The dimensions of this fine hand-made antique silver cheese dish are length (inc. handle) 29 cms (11.5 inches), with 25.5 cms (10 inches), height 8 cms (3 inches), and it weighs approx. 850g (27 troy ounces).
