An Antique Victorian sterling silver trophy cup and cover, having a round hand-engraved body with fern, ivy, & gingko leaf decoration, a gold gilt interior and applied bead-edged borders, two cast and reeded scroll side-handles, an original cover with matching engraving and cast urn-shaped finial, and sitting on a pedestal foot. Made by John Newton Mappin (Mappin & Webb) of London in 1882. The dimensions of this fine hand-made antique silver trophy cup & cover are height 35 cms (13.5 inches), spread across arms 26 cms (10.25 inches), and it weighs approx. 857g (27.6 troy ounces). Please note that one side is engraved with an original presentation inscription for the Eastbourne Tennis Club in 1882.
